Hotaru no Hikari was really good. Nao was funny. But that Teshima guy pissed me off so much. His character was just so bland… And of course it’s the most obvious thing ever that their relationship is only there to delay the relationship of Hotaru and Buchou. Which was surprisingly toned down quite a bit. I thought it was really well done for a Jdrama. It’s a lot more natural than many romantic dramas.
But the real reason to watch Hotaru no Hikari is the comedy. It does get quite funny. See below.
I actually found myself humming the BGM. Amazing. The camera direction was surprisingly good too. In fact, the whole atmosphere of Hotaru no Hikari is just really charming and relaxing. It’s a nice sort of thing to come home to. Hotaru and Buchou are two well-drawn, beliebavle characters. I have been able to take this drama amazingly seriously. But that doesn’t mean it won’t turn you into a fan girl. Because it will.
